Wait... Why Is My Reflux Back?
Your kit worked. Now reflux is back. Before you panic, read this.
Ok so, you started the Heartburn Relief Kit, followed the plan, and it worked. Your acid reflux went away and you were finally free from your symptoms. But now it’s back. And, well, you’re a bit frustrated, because this plan was meant to fix it- right?
If this sounds like you, this post is for you; because we’re going to explain why this can happen, what it actually means (hint: it’s not failure), and how to get yourself back to a heartburn-free zone without panic or giving up.
First of All: Don’t Panic
You’re not broken. Your kit didn’t “stop working.” And no, you don’t need to sprint back to your PPI. What you’re experiencing is actually pretty common, especially if:
- You had long-term or severe reflux.
- You’ve been on PPIs for years.
- You stopped the supplements as soon as symptoms resolved.
Relief is the goal, but maintenance is part of the journey. Think of it like going to the gym for 3 months, getting in shape, and then quitting completely. Your body will likely change a little when you stop going and you won’t be as fit as you were. Sometimes it won’t be that noticeable or bother you, but sometimes it will be - and that’s where maintaining your results becomes paramount.
Why It Came Back (It’s Not What You Think)
Here’s what could be happening:
- Your stomach acid production hasn’t fully bounced back yet. This takes time, especially if you were on PPIs long term.
- The LES (Lower Esophageal Sphincter), which keeps stomach acid where it belongs, may still be a bit lazy. It needs that acidity signal to close.
- You stopped the Reflux Inhibitor too soon, or tapered too fast.
- Life happened. Stress, travel, diet shifts, alcohol, illness, or sleep disruption can all throw your gut off temporarily.
- Or maybe... you simply need a reset.
This doesn’t mean the plan failed. It means your body needs a little more help to stabilise.
What To Do Next
Here’s your next move: treat it like Round 2 of healing. Go back to the Heartburn Relief Kit and follow the original plan:
1. Restart the Acid Relief
Start taking 2 daily, and work up to more if needed (up to 10 a day is safe). This helps soothe inflammation and begin healing the gut lining again.
2. Restart the Reflux Inhibitor
Start with 2 daily before your heaviest meal, and gradually work up to 5 if needed. If you feel like you need to increase faster, that’s okay - listen to your symptoms.
Remember, this supplement increases stomach acidity, which is what triggers your LES to shut properly. If reflux is back, chances are your acid level has dipped again.
Give It Time (But Not Forever)
You should notice some improvement in 2–3 weeks and a real difference by 6 weeks. This is your sweet spot to tweak dosages, be consistent, and let your system re-regulate.
It’s a trial and error process, and that’s okay. We’ll be honest; it’s not the kind of kit you take for a few days and forget about. But if you stick with it, it works. Most of our clients who see flare-ups after stopping the plan just need a few months at most to get back on track.
Don’t Go Back to Your PPI
Seriously. We know it’s tempting. But going back on your PPI is like pulling the plug on your progress.
PPIs block stomach acid as your body’s trying to rebuild it with the Reflux Inhibitor. If you start suppressing your stomach acid again, you’ll be right back where you started: dependent on something that masks the problem instead of fixing it. This is the hard part. But it’s also where the healing happens.
You’ve Got This
If your reflux comes back after finishing the Heartburn Relief Kit, you’re not starting from scratch. You’ve already built a foundation. You just need to reboot the system, tweak your dosage, and give your body time to fully heal.
Most importantly: don’t give up. This is normal, temporary, and totally fixable.
