Ozempic or Omega-3s? Supplements vs Shortcuts

What really works long-term for weight loss?

4 min read

Ozempic is everywhere right now. Celebs, influencers, maybe even your neighbor’s cousin’s best friend is on it. And even if they’re not, you’re still secretly wondering once you see the weight drop off. So what’s the deal? And how does it stack up next to natural support like supplements, nutrition, and lifestyle changes that actually last?

Let’s weigh it all up, literally.

What Is Ozempic, Exactly?

Ozempic (aka semaglutide) was originally created to help manage type 2 diabetes. It’s been around for a while and works by regulating blood sugar and reducing appetite. Unsurprisingly, people started losing weight on it pretty fast. It’s now being prescribed off-label to those without diabetes, and the results are extremely appealing to those who struggle to lose weight as it tends to drop off pretty quickly.

Sounds Like a Miracle? Not So Fast.

Here’s what doesn’t always get posted on Instagram:

  • Nausea, vomiting, and tummy trouble are very common.
  • Muscle loss can happen alongside fat loss (not ideal).
  • The food aversions and a general feeling of ickiness are real.
  • The weight can creep right back on when you stop unless you’ve made big lifestyle shifts.

Plus, it’s expensive, often hard to access, and definitely not a one-size-fits-all solution.

We’re not here to knock anyone’s choices. For those with real metabolic conditions or who are medically supervised, Ozempic can be a valuable tool. But it’s not a magic fix and it’s definitely not the only way.

What About Supplements?

Supplements aren’t shortcuts either (sorry, not sorry) but they can be powerful when used properly. Think of them as part of your overall support team; they help your body work smarter, not harder.

  • Omega-3s help reduce inflammation, support insulin sensitivity, and can even improve mood and reduce cravings. This study found omega-3s had a positive impact on weight management and metabolic markers during calorie restriction.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) may help with blood sugar control and feelings of fullness. One study showed that vinegar taken before meals improved insulin sensitivity after carb-heavy meals. If this is something you'd like to try, our gummies are a really convenient (and tasty!) way to add ACV to your diet.
  • Digestive enzymes help your body break down food more effectively, which means better nutrient absorption and less bloating. That counts for a lot when it comes to shedding pounds and generally feeling better about yourself.
  • Other natural supplements like magnesium, green tea extract, and fibre blends like Super Greens can support appetite control, metabolism, and blood sugar balance.

Natural supplements tend to work with your body rather than overriding it. So when you start a supplement regimen, it’s important to remember you’re playing the long game to get long-term results. No yo-yoing. No crash when you stop. Just steady support while you build better habits.

What Actually Works Long-Term?

We all kind of know the answer already. The stuff that works long-term is the stuff that fits into your actual life:

  • Balanced meals with enough protein and fibre
  • Moving your body in ways you actually enjoy
  • Managing stress
  • Getting enough sleep
  • Supporting your hormones and metabolism naturally

And yes, if medication helps you start that journey, that’s okay. But what keeps you going is consistency, not quick fixes.

Our Take

We’re always going to be on team nature + science. There’s a time and place for meds like Ozempic. But realistic changes and smart supplementation is the more sustainable path for most people.

If you want six-pack abs in six weeks, we’re probably not your people. But if you’re ready to feel good in your body, have more energy, and see real changes over time, we’re here for that.

All the natural tools we mentioned above (and more) are a great start, and if you’d like to add natural supplementation we’re happy to help you find what suits your needs best. Just drop us a message here on Facebook or shoot us a DM.

No shame, no shortcuts. And no Ozempic face; you know, that gaunt, rapid weight loss look we keep seeing on celebs - not a vibe.
